About
Who we are
Bridge House Kingston is a new not-for-profit project in Kingston, Ontario. It was started by Ron Summers and is run by a team with lived experience of addiction and recovery. Read our story.
Where we stand
Our organization is being incorporated as an Ontario not-for-profit. It will be run as a social enterprise. We are not a registered charity.
Bridge House Kingston is the name we work under. Once the corporation exists, we will show its legal name here.
How we work
- Peer-led. People with lived experience do this work.
- Dignity first. Help is practical, not a lecture.
- Multiple pathways. We support whichever recovery pathway fits the person.
- Consent first. We keep records only with each person's consent, and only what the program needs. People can see their own records, correct them, and take a copy with them.
- Measured. We record what happens, so we can show what works.
How we are funded
Our first paid work is peer support for clients of treatment programs. We are preparing an application to the City of Kingston for funding to open the house.
Our website and software are donated by Vision Quest AI, a Kingston technology company. Vision Quest AI receives no money from Bridge House Kingston. Its president does this work as a volunteer and is not on our board.
